Dada style was an avant-garde movement in the early 20th century rising as a societal protest against World War I and the bourgeois interests believed to be responsible for war.

Emerging from the ashes of World War I, Dada style was a revolt against the corrupt politics and propaganda believed to be responsible for the horrible atrocities of war. Notable Dada decor artists include Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, Man Ray, and Hugo Ball to name a few. Additionally, prominent Dada artists moved on to become surrealists at the completion of the war.
