We produce beautiful, handcrafted furniture. All of our furniture is made to order and, therefore, unique. Each piece is a memory or story; we have collected thousands of them over the 50 years we have been in our current Los Angeles warehouse. We are ready to part with a few of them and hope you find something you love.

    Our History:
Danny Ho Fong began importing Chinese-made furniture in 1937, alongside two of his brothers, under the name Fong Brothers Co. From 1953 to 1979, he sold his unique and non-traditional rattan furniture designs under the name Tropi-Cal. Danny Ho was an innovator. Inspired by the casual California lifestyle of the mid-century, he produced furniture that was celebrated for being simple, light-scaled, and open in feeling. He utilized rattan and wicker in new ways to create modern forms that designers like the Eames achieved with plastics and bent wood. Danny Ho’s son, Miller Yee Fong, carried on the family’s design tradition with notable pieces of his own, including the iconic Lotus Chair. Today, Tropi-Cal’s designs can be seen in rotating and permanent collections at museums such as the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the National Art Center Tokyo, among others.

In 1979, Danny Ho’s two sons, Ted and Miller, took over the business, reviving the original Fong Brothers Co. name. At this time, the company pivoted away from residential design and instead focused on producing custom designs for high-end hotels and restaurants. Over 80 years after its founding, Fong Brothers Co. remains a third-generation business focused on Danny Ho’s tradition of exquisite style and craftsmanship.
