The controversial 1980s Memphis style is making a comeback. Authentic Memphis furniture and decor feature overly saturated, clashing designs which made the style so controversial.
Fondly described as "Fisher Price meets Bauhaus," the Memphis style has made quite a name for itself. Memphis decor is part Color-Field, part abstract, and part exhibitionist. Founded by The Memphis Group out of Milan, the movement's purposeful disregard for taste and tact rattled the art establishment to the core. Although the movement has formally disbanded, you can still get your hands on whimsical Memphis pieces.
