The Harry Bertoia foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to furthering the legacy of Harry Bertoia (1915-1978). The purposes of the foundation include distributing public knowledge of Harry Bertoia’s body of work; conducting research and providing the results of such to museums, schools, professionals and the general public; and creating tools to assist the education and development of young artists. Bertoia was a furniture designer, graphics teacher, jewelry maker and metal sculptor and his iconic Midcentury Modern chairs are still in production today. His “Sonambient” sculptures are also highly regarded and the foundation has issued an authorized reproduction of a smaller tonal sculpture. Celia Bertoia, Harry’s daughter and director of the HarryBertoia foundation, is putting his legacy in order so that others can research, enjoy and be inspired by his work.
