    Shop Banner

Hammer and Spear launched in 2013 as a showroom and full service multidisciplinary design studio, comprised of a team of interior designers, architects, and product designers. Founded by husband and wife Scott Jarrell and Kristan Cunningham, Hammer and Spear’s notable aesthetic both informs and reflects the greater movement that has inspired the Arts District for decades.

The Hammer and Spear brand was born of the couple's great love for their neighborhood and its inspirational community of artists. In an effort to meaningfully participate in its growth, Hammer and Spear opened its doors to showcase the work of burgeoning DTLA designers and to engage and collaborate with the craftspeople of the district.

In three short years the brand has grown exponentially, expanding in 2015 to a 5,000 square foot space which allows both Showroom and Interior Design Studio to coexist in one unified setting. Located in a historic brick building in the heart of the Arts District, this dual-functioning environment lends itself to a creative atmosphere, which permeates both the retail and design settings. The team is comprised of members who are at once celebrated for their expertise and versatility, enabling our collective to successfully navigate our design focus among hospitality, retail, commercial and industrial environments.
