It is ‘brand new’ and ‘fresh’ to the market, having been purchased directly from the Artist by the Obenchain Family in the 1920’s.
REVEAU BASSETT (1897-1981).
Reveau Mott Bassett is a well known Dallas Artist of the Texas Impressionist School of the 1920's.
His exposure to art began at the age of twelve when he started going on sketching trips with Frank Reaugh. He studied at the National Academy of Design with Charles Courtney Curran, and also at the Art Students League where he was taught by William Robinson Leigh. Bassett is widely known for his paintings of ducks and other migratory birds.
He also painted landscapes.
This is an especially fine early impressionist painting of that genre.
This painting is a small oil on canvas, in its original frame and original matting.
It is a landscape scene, in the impressionist style.
It features a pasture with trees and a house. It is full of purple and light green tones.
It has been 'untouched' since it was painted and it hung in the Obenchain Mansion on Armstrong Parkway, Highland Park, Dallas since 1929.
It is in it's ORIGINAL frame.
It is signed on the lower left of center.....REVEAU BASSETT 25....for 1925. less
