morePair of solid walnut nightstands with linear sculptural pulls designed and manufactured on custom order by Vermont Furniture Designs circa early 1980s. Each chest is mounted to two solid walnut 'block' bases, and there are two solid walnut 'bars' (one in the front and one in the back) that directly support the frame and intersect with the legs for added support and decoration. The slab-leg construction gives the stands a 'floating' appearance, as there is sufficient open space between the two bases.
The construction, quality of materials, and master craftsmanship of these pieces are akin to master woodworkers from the New Hope School (including Wharton Esherick and George Nakashima). An heirloom-quality pair designed and constructed to last.
