An underrated icon of sculptural, Mid-Century Modern furnishing, Modeline was a small outfit out of California, operating from 1957 to 1981. The company's specialty was in table and floor lamps inspired by an intermix of the Space Age and Mid-Century style. Modeline lamp designs are instantly recognizable. In many versions, the lamp's tapered hardwood legs reach skyward to surround a minimalistic shade. Other variations include bases that mimic rocket ships, flying saucers, and ET-esque, amorphous forms.
