Founded in San Francisco, Metropolitan Furniture showcases a look that’s "City by the Bay sophistication" meets "Southern California Modernism"—Now, that’s California Love.
There could be no more fitting a name for Metropolitan. While undeniably indebted to the Mid-Century aesthetic, Metropolitan pieces—like that of Milo Baughman—are chicly finished in delicious velvets, exotic woods, and meticulous, tailored details like tufting. The look is divinely cosmopolitan, but at the same time is not overly buttoned-up. Indeed, when viewing Metro collections, it is easy to identify a laid-back, vaguely Bohemian vibe on the periphery. Founded in 1905 by Louis Abrams, the company was purchased by Steelcase in 1987 and subsequently shuttered in 2008.
