When it comes to design, by all means, have a little fun with it! George Kovacs Lighting did just that, and we think it went off quite smashingly.
From the “Wobble” Lamp to the “Save Your Marriage” Lamp, George Kovacs pieces are cheekily named and daringly chic. Born in Vienna, George Kovacs got his start in a New York lamp store in the 1950s—coincidently, fellow lighting designer Robert Sonneman would later get his start in a George Kovacs store— and eventually procured a deal with an Austrian lamp manufacturer. While deeply indebted to standard materials of the time like chrome and glass, Kovacs lamps never feel run of the mill. On the contrary, they’re decidedly out of the ordinary.
