Upon its unveiling in America, Dansk Designs Furniture was credited by the Times as creating quite the stir—although who’s to say there wasn’t a bit of shake involved too?
Conjured up by two Americans who went to Europe to find their muse, Dansk Designs was the collaboration between themselves and Danish designer Jens Quistgaard. For all three, a simple plan—mass produce Scandinavian Modern designs stateside—turned out to be a raving success. The American public was immediately captivated by Dansk (and to be frank, still is). Why? We’re inclined to think it’s the way Dansk Design pieces are sculptural yet eloquent—promising the future while simultaneously evoking the familiarities of the past.
