An architect who occasionally dabbled in interiors, Cedric Hartman came to observe that lamps which made themselves apparent during the daytime were oftentimes a tangent in a room, adding no ambience until nighttime. Inspired rather than detoured, he created a slim-profile reading lamp that made chic work of casting a spotlight, but not starring in one. Like Stilnovo, who began in lighting and has since branched into furniture, Cedric Hartman pieces now include tables and sofas—all of which, of course, feature an equally light touch.
