Years before other Italian design firms like Artemide and [B & B Italia] (https://www.decaso.com/maker/b-b-italia) were founded, Azucena was producing furniture with the most pointed of views. Formed in 1947 by Luigi Caccia Dominioni and Ignazio Gardella, two Milanese architects who paired up with designer friend, Corrado Corradi dell’Acqua, Azucena pieces are forward-thinking and elegant to an art. Indeed, contemporary Azucena is remarkably similar to those pieces created in the 1950s. Their secret? The company maintains no factory, instead relying on a downstream network of vendors and artisans who pass products from hand to hand until completion.
